Our snuffle mats and other snuffle activities are a super useful aid for all dog parents. Dogs are born to sniff! The part of the brain responsible for analysing smells is 40 times bigger in dogs compared to humans.
Snuffle mats and other snuffle activities are a great way to fulfil your dog’s natural desire to sniff. By giving your dog more opportunities to use their powerful sense of smell, you can enhance their well being. Offering enrichment also reduces the chances of unwanted behaviour arising as a result of boredom or lack of mental fulfilment.
Research suggests that providing enough sniffing opportunities can make dogs feel more optimistic. Mental enrichment also makes dogs more tired and relaxed.

How To Use
Our snuffle range can be used with your dog’s normal dry food or with different dry treats, freeze dried raw food, cooked meat, fruit and vegetables. Hide food in the mats and balls for your dog to sniff out and re-fill for longer engagement.
Using different types of food varies the challenge as your dog searches for the different smells. Using the different activities provides varied enrichment and levels of difficulty. You can spread out a selection of snuffle activities around a room or in the garden, to offer your dog choice and variety. Giving choice is fantastic enrichment, particularly if used with a variety of food too.
The range can be hand washed. Do not tumble dry.

Safety
Due to the natural chewing and investigative behaviour of dogs, we don’t advise unsupervised use for safety reasons.
We recommend your dog is supervised at all times whilst using their snuffle activity, they are not chew toys. Whilst every care has been taken in manufacture, the snuffle range is not indestructible. Frustration may occur with some dogs, who may need assistance to learn how to extract food without damaging the mat or ball. Remove access once your dog has naturally finished.
Our snuffle range is designed for organised enrichment. As with any activity, dogs may need training to take part safely and appropriately. Snuffle activities should be beneficial to the dog and support may be needed to ensure the activity is a positive experience.
ACE Freework
The Pawsitive Thinking snuffle range can provide a valuable addition to ACE Freework set ups. They are made from soft, good quality fleece. The variety of formats offers useful variation for beginners through to more confident and established dogs. There are also several ways that each product can be used, offering even more versatility.
Fleece holds scent well, so as well as different food, our snuffle range can be used with a selection of aromas. For example, you can stuff the snuffle pockets with different fillings such as sheep’s wool, catnip and other herbs.
Sizes & Further Information
Small Snuffle Mat– Approximately 32cm x 24cm on the upper side. Suitable for puppies, small breeds or as a convenient travel mat for all dog sizes. Densely woven, thick mat.
Large Snuffle Mat – Approximately 39cm x 32cm on the upper side. Suitable for medium to large dogs or those wanting a bigger mat. Densely woven, thick mat.
Small Snuffle Ball- Approximately 14cm in diameter. Folds of fleece in a ball shape.
Large Snuffle Ball- Approximately 19cm in diameter. Folds of fleece in a ball shape.
Small Snuffle Puzzle Ball- Fleece strips rolled up and tucked into a JW Hol-ee rubber ball. The rubber ball is approximately 8cm diameter.
Large Snuffle Puzzle Ball- Fleece strips rolled up and tucked into a JW Hol-ee rubber ball. The rubber ball is approximately 10.5cm diameter.
Ruffle Snuffle Ball- Fleece strips tied around the outside of a JW Hole-ee rubber ball. Approximate diameter of ball and fleece strips 22cm.
Snuffle Foraging Mat- Approximately 29cm wide by 137cm long. 10 separate pockets. Can be rolled up to begin activity, scrunched or laid out flat.
Snuffle Dog Enrichment Mat- Approximately 67cm x 60cm. Numerous foraging pockets plus detachable snuffle mat.
Snuffle Pockets- Approximately 19cm x 20cm. Set of three pockets. Can be used with the foraging mat, the enrichment mat or on their own. Useful for hiding.
Colours
Handmade with love in Devon. Colours and finish will have a slight variation due to the handmade nature of the products. Made from good quality fleece material. Please see the photos for a guide to the colours available.
